The Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) celebrated its 11th Foundation Day on January 20, 2021 at the Seva Kendra, Jollang, in Itanagar, which in many ways was a meaningful occasion. The highlights of the programme included the Holy Mass, and hoisting of the APCA flag by the President, Mr. Taw Tebin. In a discussion held to mark the celebration, APCA members deliberated on strategies to be adopted to expand the activities to all the districts, including those newly formed districts, where APCA presence was not there.  Speaking on the occasion, President APCA encouraged people to maintain their tribal identity even as Christians and also work for peace and harmony in the state. He also lauded the state government for trusting the Catholic community as partners in development and extending welfare schemes though them. It may be mentioned that with the initiative of APCA, the State government has sanctioned Rs. 4 crore for construction of Seva Kendra on a piece of land provided by the APCA. This four storied building shall house the head office of APCA, and shall also provide affordable accommodations of different categories to people who come from far flung areas to the State capital. APCA source says that allotment of rooms would be done in a most transparent manner through online bookings on first come first serve basis, and its management and upkeep shall be in the hands of Catholic Nuns.
