Newly ordained Priests with Archbishop Dominic Lumon

The month of December 2020 turned out to be a month of bumper reaps for the Archdiocese of Imphal, when nine Deacons hailing from different parishes were ordained as Priests. While seven of them were ordained together by Archbishop Most Rev. Dominic Lumon on December 29th, at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Mantripukhri, Imphal, the remaining two were ordained separately on December 17th and 30th in Sicily (Italy) and in Loyola Parish, Bishnupur respectively. Seven newly ordained Priests included Fr. John Poviche from St. Dominic Savio Parish, Tungjoy, Fr. Louis Sunbeam from Christ King Parish, Chingjaroi, Fr. Stanford MSFS from Holy Rosary Parish, Purul, Fr. Anthony Kamei MSFS from St. John’s Parish, Nungba, Fr. Lucas Shonvah SDB from Holy Spirit parish, Nungba, from St. Dominic Mission centre, Lamphoupasana. The high point of the 29th December ordination was two brothers - Fr. Augustine Anal SDB and Fr. Friny Peter Anal CSC being chosen by God as his servants, and ordained on the same day, a unique feat in the days when the Reapers are few.

On the following day, Fr. Pheigathuaipou Gangmei was ordained, again by Most Rev. Dominic Lumon, as the first Jesuit Priest from the Rongmei community. Earlier on December 17th, Fr. Timothy Gangmei SDB, was ordained a priest at Sicily, Italy, amidst a small gathering of priests, nuns and faithful. He hails from Mary Help of Christian parish, Tamenglong and belongs to the Salesian province of Dimapur. A beaming Archbishop Lumon exhorted the newly ordained priest to follow the footsteps of Christ, and be a living example of hope for the people.
