The North East Catholic Community of Delhi, on December 6th 2020, celebrated the 30th year of their existence in the National capital at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, New Delhi. The occasion was combined with the usual Pre-Christmas celebration the organisation normally had, because their members head to their respective homes for Christmas. The occasion, though a solemn one, was a low key affair for NECCOD standard, with number of participants drastically scaled down due to Covid protocols. Archbishop Anil J T Couto was the main celebrant of the Holy Mass. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. K. Lokho Mose, President NECCOD, outline briefly how the organisation has grown in strength and stature from a student prayer group to one of the most vibrant Catholic organisation in the Archdiocese of Delhi. He thanks the Vidya Jyoti fathers, the priests of Holy Rosary Parish, and the Scared Heart Parish for providing space to worship the Lord as a community. Recalling the contributions of successive NECCOD Chaplains in the growth of family, Mr. Lokho Moses said they have collectively nurtured this huge family for 30 long years. He also announced that portion of the contributions polled in by the members for the occasion shall be donated for charity work.

After the Holy Mass, there was a brief felicitation programme wherein Archbishop and the priests were extended humble courtesies. In his brief address, Archbishop Anil J T Couto appreciated NECCOD for having emerged as a well-knit social organisation with strong spiritual grounding, and urged them to continue living in Christ. He also gave away prizes to winners of various online competitions the organization conducted to engage their members during the lockdown. It may be mentioned that since NECCOD is a self-financing organization, members generously contribute to meet expenses of such important functions once the Executive committee comes out with estimated expenditure. This time too, such contributions didn’t lack behind despite hardships due to Covid-19 outbreak. However, since the celebration this time was low key, the generous contribution was donated to Prabhu Yesudham Catholic Church, Ek Ehsaas Old age home, Kripaon ki Mata, taking care of the Children Leprosy infected parents, and Ms. Agatha, the daughter of a former Catechist, pursuing Media studies in NISCORT.
