Requiem Mass in honour of late Rev. Fr. Albert Khartu at the St. Joseph's Cathedral, Imphal
The Catholic community of the Archdiocese of Imphal bid emotional Farewell to late Rev. Fr. Albert Khartu, by partaking in a Requiem Mass held in his honour, with Most Rev. Dominic Lumon, DD, Archbishop of Imphal, as the main Celebrant at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Mantripukhri, Imphal, on May 24, 2022. The holy Mass was followed by Rite of Final Commendation, which was performed by Rev. Fr. Varghese Velickakam. A Condolence Service, attended by large number of people, was also organized in the Cathedral itself, an hour before the Holy Mass.
Late Rev. Fr. Albert Khartu, a member of Monsang tribe from Chandel district, was ordained as a priest on January 24, 2015. His simple and affable attitude endeared him with most people who came in contact with him – the priest fraternity, the religious, devotees and the public in general. The Sirti Upah Ruh, the Apex body of the Monsang tribe, described him as “A God fearing leader, who dedicated his life in serving the Lord” in their Condolence message issued on May 24, 2022.
Rev. Fr. Albert Khartu breathed his last on May 23, 2022 after a prolonged illness.
