The Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) hosted an impressive reception in honour of the Bishops of North East region, in Itanagar where 17 Bishops gathered for their Annual Conference, the first to be held in Arunachal Pradesh. The reception was hosted in the Don Bosco College Jollang campus, which was attended by two Ministers of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, former ministers and MLAs and several prominent public leaders. Besides them were also leaders from various others Churches – Baptist, Revival Church etc. exemplifying the cordial relationship between Christian denominations in the state. The highlights of the programme were presentation of cultural items of different tribes by the students of Don Bosco College. Speaking on the occasion, Archbishop John Moolachira, President of NERBC, thanked the people of Arunachal Pradesh for their warm welcome, and appreciated the APCA efforts in ensuring the presence of so many people. He assured the gathering that Bishops’ Council will try its best to address some of the issues raised by the people, prominent among them being a request for setting up a Catholic hospital in the state. Significantly, though the Chief Minister Pema Khandu was unable to attend the programme, he deputed two of his Ministers to represent him, and also extended a warm gesture by way of ensuring that the Bishops received gifts, containing books, cultural items, and products of Arunachal Pradesh.
