On October 18, 2021, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma, called on Most Rev. John Thomas Kattrukudiyil, Bishop of Itanagr, at the Bishop’s house in Papunallah. Besides the Bishop, the CM was warmly received by Taw Tebin, president of APCA, Nabum Pehi, General Secretary of APCA, and Tok Buttum, and presented traditional attire and bouquets. Mr. Taw Tebin, in his short welcoming speech, thanked the Chief Minister on behalf of all the members of APCA, and the Catholic community of Arunachal Pradesh for sparing his valuable time to visit the state. Speaking to the media persons, CM Sangma said that the visit was part of the ongoing strong bounding the family had with the Church since the time of his late father, PA Sangma. It may be mentioned that Mr. Sangma is the only Catholic chief minister in India currently. He was accompanied by his wife.
